When we started doing all of that we already had been supporting Linux systems for over 5 years. There are a lot of reasons to migrate to Joomla from Mambo, mainly though its that they offer more 3rd party integration in terms of components, modules and plugins. Plus the new version of Joomla 1.5 is worlds better in terms of building in new functionality.
