Virus's are not a windows users best friend. But there is a lot of choices in the free software world for Windows Anti-Virus software that honestly does a better job than Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus. Frankly Norton is bloated, it slows your computer down and as of the last few years there are other products out there that do a better job of detection.

For the purpose of this article we are going to cover the Free version of Grisoft AVG Since everyone can run this we are helping the largest number of people with this Mini-How-To. They also have a "Paid For" version that is $38.95 for two years on one computer, even better but if your home user and cash it tight you can run the Free Version.

The newest free version can be downloaded from here. Download that and Install it. Make sure to tell it to do its updates via the internet and to remember that action so you get it to autoupdate. We will be adding to this to fill in the blanks as time permits.
